Kirkman was established in 1730. It became an Associate of Collard & Collard, located at 50 New Bond Street, London, England. The date of the first numbered instrument was 1835. They continued production through 1959.
The piano is covered in a very rich burl veneer. It is either Amboyna or a European Burled Walnut. Either of those would display this spectacular figuring. Both would be quite rare and probably cannot be found in today's lumber.
The following photographs show the piano before we initiated refurbishment.
